POLANICA-ZDROJ

Polanica-Zdroj is a beautiful spa town in  Dolnośląskie( province) , situated in the central part of the Kłodzko Valley  near Kłodzko. Relatively early, because in XVI century , local sources of mineral waters became famous. Water was being carried to distant towns for banquet feasts and weddings. 1828  was an important moment in the history of Polanica, when Józef Gromls started the use of sources. He built the small pump room and wooden bathrooms. Since then  the history of Polanica as spa town has begun. The health resort is based on  three sources of healing waters: "Large Pieniawa", "Joseph I", and "Joseph II". Water from these sources contains a lot of acid carbonate and calcium. In Polanica  people undergo treatment for afflictions such as  cardiovascular , metabolisms  diseases and neurosis . There is a provincial hospital of the plastic surgery  in Polanica-Zdroj and that makes Polanica known as a famous center of plastic surgery. Popular mineral water''Staropolanka'' also comes from Polanica-Zdrój sources.

PUMP ROOM  IN POLANICA – address :   Matuszewskiego Street  ( one –time  consumption of a water costs 1,50 zł for adults

0,80 zł  for children. It is free of charge only for sanatorium patients , after showing a special treatment card  of a health center group.  It is open from Monday to Friday ( 7.00-18.00)

The “Zdrojowy park “is located in the central part of the city. The area of the park  is limited with streets: Park and Spring. Its area is 12.97 ha.

The Central Park is the most representative and the oldest part of the town. The main promenade, running from the pump room to the obelisk of Adam Mickiewicz is a main pivot of the park. There is a floodlit fountain  and a Chess Park here. The main promenade is leads up, to the Woody Park with rhododendrons. All parts of the park are varied with numerous paths and lanes.  The “Zdrojowy Park’’ park is also a place of the accumulation of exotic trees, several dozen kinds among others from North America and the immediate East which normally don't grow in our country. There is a lot of valuable specimens of natural features ,which have got a status of a nature monument.

ZDROJOWY PARK  address : Matuszewskiego Street .   It is an open park and an entrance is free of charge. You can visit it whenever you want , 24 hours per day.

 There is a colour fountain,characteristic of the park ,which has got two programs - 24-hour and an exhibitive one. In the summer period (1 May - 30 September) at dusk the fountain is  highlighted with 16 colour floodlights and forms water figures gushing out from 726 nozzles to the height of 12 flat into the rhythm of the music.

Along the'' Bystrzyca Dusznicka'' river flowing through almost an entire city , there is  a long promenade linking the ''Zdrojowy" Park with the city centre  It inspires the admiration of tourists and is a favourite hang-out place for guests and residents of Polanica . It looks unusually attractive by night, lighted by original lamps. There are many cafés nearby, which are exposing tables with colour umbrellas outside in the summer and spring season,giving this place a lot of the special atmosphere at the same time. Summing up, “Polanica – Zdroj “ is really a city  worth seeing , it is a great place for a weekend hangout as well as for a longer stay in one of the town’s hotels or sanatoriums.
